Next-Generation Waveforms (OTFS/AFDM)

Status: Past (2024.03 - 2026.02)

Waveforms Architecture

These researches focuses on receiver design and performance analysis for novel modulation techniques such as orthogonal time-frequency space (OTFS) and affine frequency division multiplexing (AFDM), especially in high-speed mobile scenarios.

OTFS Channel Estimation Based on Sparse Recovery

To address the sparsity of the OTFS system, we can construct the \(\ell_0\)-norm minimization problem: \(\min_{\mathbf{h}} ||\mathbf{h}||_0,\) where \(\mathbf{h}\) is the sparse channel vector rearranged from 2D delay-Doppler domain. Since this problem is NP-hard, we apply a variety of compresses sensing (CS) techniques to solve it.

Useful Resources

Note: I do not recommend any new graduate students to make it their main research direction, because OFDM has recently been designated as the 6G air interface waveform: [First 6G Agreement: OFDM confirmed: What it means?]
